Open Quote The school has excellent teachers and a caring staff. Parent involvement is very active and not by force like choice schools in the area. There is a large military population in attendance at this school as well and pride in our country and good citizenship are taught. Children love going to school every day. They make learning fun. Teachers are well educated, many with master's degrees. My child loves her school and teachers. I would highly recommend it. Having been in 5 different school districts both public and private, this school has a great reading program. My child reads 2 grade levels above. I credit this to excellent teachers who provide positive rewards for reading. Close Quote

Open Quote Please be aware that the administration at this school is extremely useless.

This was my child's first year in this school (6th grade).

I repeated requested a conference with a specific teacher who always had an excuse why he could not meet with me. It took me three calls and an email to get the principal to finally return my calls. When she returned my call, she told me that because I had an issue with the teacher I needed to "discuss it with him."

In the end, this teacher (math and reading) ended up leaving during Christmas break only to be replaced twice during the rest of the school year. The entire first semester of reading was to "read your library book" and math class was spent reviewing basic skills learned in 4th and 5th grades. After a waste of the first semester and the subsequent revolving teachers, these children learned only a small fraction of what they will need to succeed in 7th grade.

What a mess. Close Quote

Open Quote Great teachers, great staff, great kids. All around perfect school. I have two children in college that went to Roosevelt, and a current 6th grader. I moved out of the district last year and now drive him everyday so he can attend school there. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
