As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Great school if you are in the dual-language program, the biggest challenge this school is that DCPS still maintains a "traditional" strand within the school, so at times it feels like two school within one building.
It seems they do this only because about half of the staff of the school could not teach in a dual-language program- however the only draw to this school is dual-language, and if the school was all dual-language the demand would increase 10 fold. At open houses no one asks about the traditional program, which is under-attended in upper grades, every person is there for dual-language, yet there are still two programs here for some reason.
This would be a 5 star school if all children here were taught to the dual-language program. Close Quote

Open Quote We have been students here for two years now. I had doubts intiially, but I see lots of effort on both the administrative, PTA, parents, and teachers parts to make this a good school. The children are safe and for the numbers of kids enrolled here most all of them are known by name!
We are part of the Spanish Immersion program and could not have done better for language. I am hopeful, optimistic, and in Tyler Elementary's corner. I hope they continue to grow, continue to keep all ethnicities at home in their school, and challenge themselves to really service SE/SW DC. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
