Summary:

Naramake Elementary School is a public elementary school in Norwalk, Connecticut, serving 365 students from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade. The school has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Hispanic students compared to the district and state averages.

Naramake's test scores in English Language Arts and Mathematics are generally higher than the Norwalk School District average, but lower than the state average. As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I love this school and my daughter loves it as well! We moved to our neighborhood in Norwalk to get a full community experience. Our daughter was accepted to Columbus Magnet School and although tempted, we passed and stayed with Naramake. My kids can walk to all the schools and the teachers and staff at Naramake are so inviting. My daughter is performing above the state averages and has loved all her teachers. We made the right choice, Close Quote

Open Quote Many people think Naramake is a wonderful school.
It is...if you are part of the "Principal's Pack." The principal is very controlling behind that smile of hers. She has made it so staff and parents report back to her everything they see and hear, and then she deals with it--or not--however she sees fit.
Although they will tell you there is no favoritism, it could not be farther from the truth! Children of teachers/PTO parents definitely receive certain "perks" and privileges.
The bragging about the test scores all over the Internet is nauseating! The only thing those scores mean is more money for the school and brownie points for the administrators. It really does not adequately measure a child's true intelligence.
If the parents want to kid themselves that their children really are in "the best school in Norwalk," they are in for a rude awakening. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
