Summary:

Eagle Valley Elementary School is a public elementary school in Eagle, Colorado, serving 373 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Eagle County School District No. Re 50, which is ranked 54 out of 116 school districts in the state.

While Eagle Valley Elementary has a relatively low student-teacher ratio and serves a diverse student population, the school's academic performance is generally below state and district averages. On the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments, only 16.1% of students were proficient or better in math, compared to 34.2% statewide and 26.8% in the district. The school's performance in English Language Arts and Science is slightly better, but still lags behind nearby schools like Brush Creek Elementary School, which consistently ranks in the top quarter of Colorado elementary schools.

The achievement gaps at Eagle Valley Elementary are particularly concerning, with the school's White students performing significantly better on CMAS assessments than their Hispanic and low-income peers. Additionally, the school's high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 31.15% to 37.53% over the past three years, suggests that addressing the unique needs of students from low-income families may be a key factor in improving the school's overall academic outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I absolutely love this school. The IB program works perfectly for my daughter; not only because it is dual language (Spanish) but because it has made her a more curious, inquisitive student, she learns without even knowing it! The teachers are great, the principal is amazing. The PTA is very involved and plans a lot of fun activities throughout the year. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I recommend it 100% Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
