Open Quote This school was transformational for my kids. It allows and encourages independence and goal-setting, which is useful throughout their education. The expeditionary education (5-7 trips per year - 8th graders go to Japan) was amazing. The education is top-notch - both kids are well-prepared to succeed in high school and beyond. Close Quote

Open Quote Our son continues to thrive at Odyssey Middle School during his second year.
I am impressed with so many aspects of the school. The expectations for the
students are high, and students are appropriately pushed to their limits. This
is all done in a high quality supportive, warm, and understanding environment.
Odyssey students are smart, polite, well-behaved, and will be future leaders.
Odyssey enhances the healthy growth of young adolescents as lifelong learners
who are ethical, good citizens, competent, self-sufficient and optimistic
about the future. At this age our son is undergoing rapid physical, social,
emotional, and moral changes. Odyssey is a safe and happy environment we
entrust with the healthy development and education of our son during these
crucial years of growth. The new head is unparalleled, and the teachers and
staff are wonderful. Our son loves going to Odyssey everyday. Close Quote

Open Quote What do you do with a bright kid who is intensely hungry for more knowledge -- yet starting to get bored and restless in public elementary school? Odyssey has just the answer.

The school doesn't just provide a challenging, mind-expanding curriculum (full of new adventures in Shakespeare, world history, Japanese, math, science and writing.) That alone would make the Odyssey experience worthwhile, but the school also . . .

. . . provides great lessons in everyday life. Students learn to swim and to clean up the school grounds. They learn to carry themselves well on ambitious field trips, and to help the elderly and disabled on community-service days. They come home more curious about world cuisine, more familiar with the old-fashioned words "please" and "thank you," and much more relaxed about whether they are fitting in with friends.

Part of the Odyssey culture is to throw a lot of challenges at kids, one after another. The first year can have its tough moments. But along the way, students somehow learn to budget time, set priorities and accept that they can't always be perfect at everything, but they can make an honest effort. It adds up to a great education and a great part of maturation. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
