Scandia Elementary is a public elementary school located on Travis Air Force Base in California, serving 480 students in grades K-6. As part of the Travis Unified School District, Scandia Elementary consistently outperforms the district and the state of California in academic assessments, with strong performance across various student subgroups.

Scandia Elementary's academic achievements are particularly noteworthy. Scandia's performance is particularly strong for African American, Hispanic, and low-socioeconomic status students, who consistently rank in the top 30% of California elementary schools.

Scandia Elementary's unique characteristics include serving a significant population of military-connected students, which it does with great success, and maintaining a diverse student body. While Scandia outperforms nearby schools like Foxboro Elementary and Cambridge Elementary, it does not quite match the academic excellence of Travis Elementary, which remains the top-performing school in the Travis Unified School District.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I’m gonna start by saying the principal and the vice principal need to go back to whatever schooling is that they had to go to, to become a principal and vice principal. I was told this was the better school than the other school that is located on the base that we are currently at and basically that is not true. I sadly had to switch my three kids from the school because they don’t know how to handle Problems that keep reoccurring since the beginning of school in August. And when you try to talk to them they never know anything or they’re supposed to get back to you I’m still supposed to be hearing back from them and I still haven’t. SMH.. Bullying and kid’s not keeping their hands to themselves is a major problems And if your child defends themself, they get in trouble. Let’s just say I can’t wait till we get out of California. Hopefully, the new school we are going to is a lot better. And it’s making me leave a star because I would not Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
