As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I had high hopes for Hyde Middle School when my child started attending, but unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. Bullying is a serious problem at this school, and it seems to be ignored by the principal. Student violence is also a major issue, and offending students are not even suspended. The police presence on campus has become so frequent that it has become routine.

Furthermore, I have noticed that high test scores at Hyde Middle School are only achieved by the parents who pay for their children's extracurricular education. This is further confirmed by the significant performance gap between minority and special needs students. While there are a few exceptional teachers, the majority of teachers at this school seem unengaged, and the administrative staff can be outright rude and abusive towards parents visiting campus.

The food quality at Hyde Middle School is subpar, and the variety of meal choices is extremely poor. Most of the options are unhealthy, such as cheese pizzas and cheese sticks. Although this is not the school's fault, as the food service is provided by the district, the school's food distribution is so poor that kids routinely do not have time to eat.

The school's facilities are hopelessly outdated and run-down, especially the gym and outdoor sports equipment. Unfortunately, the district is not investing in any renovations, as the school is slated to be closed due to declining enrollment in the Cupertino Union School District.

Overall, I cannot recommend Hyde Middle School. The issues with bullying, student violence, and poor academic performance are concerning, and the lack of investment in the school's facilities only adds to the problem. It's a shame, as I had hoped for a better experience for my child at this school. Close Quote

Open Quote Overall, Hyde Middle School is a good school for my child. However, some teachers have been teaching too long and are set in their ways. They need to refresh or learn new ways of teaching today's students especially students with learning disabilities. My child has experienced the negative effects from teachers who have refused to accommodate and find ways to help my child succeed in school. Luckily, there are teachers who care enough to make sure that my child feels that he is succeeding in school.
Regarding the front office staff, they are less than friendly. They have a condescending/cannot be bothered attitude toward the parents. Many families, including mine have experienced this unnecessary attitude. This behavior contradicts what is expected from students to be kind and have empathy for others. The front office staff members NEED to go through Soul Shop trainings with the students. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
