Quentin Elementary School

Summary:

Quentin Elementary School is a public K-8 school in Avondale, Arizona, serving 885 students as part of the Littleton Elementary District. While the school has a higher percentage of Hispanic (76.72%) and African American (12.66%) students compared to the state average, it consistently underperforms the state and district in English Language Arts and Mathematics proficiency across all grade levels.

Quentin Elementary ranks particularly low for certain student subgroups, such as English Language Learners, Special Education students, and Low Socioeconomic Status students, where it is ranked in the bottom 20% of Arizona elementary schools. The school has also seen a gradual increase in dropout rates, reaching 2.6% in 2021-2022, which is higher than the state average. Despite higher spending per student at $10,384 in 2021-2022, the school continues to struggle academically, suggesting that simply increasing funding may not be the sole solution.

When compared to nearby schools within the Littleton Elementary District, such as Tres Rios Elementary, Quentin Elementary consistently underperforms in academic proficiency, with lower rankings and test scores across the board. This indicates that the school may need to examine its educational strategies, resource allocation, and support for its diverse student population to address its significant academic challenges.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My son has been very successful at Quentin. He has been at Quentin since he started kindergarten and he is in fourth grade at this time. I have been really happy with the teachers at Quentin they work very hard on implementing all new programs as their district grows. Ms. Pacheco the school principal has always made her self available when I have had a concern or a question. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
