As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have had the honor of sending my 2 daughters to Sanborn Elementary since 2014. The teachers are amazing and invest their time to help students. It is a family atmosphere and even during Covid they kept the students learning online and in-person. The staff has kept the numbers of Covid extremely low. The counselors checked up on kids during the shut down and brought food to those in need. The counselors go around to classrooms and talk to the students to keep open communication. The staff works together for the good of the student. Sanborn is also a "Project Lead The Way" School which means they learn about things like physics and robotics starting in Kindergarten and do projects once a quarter. My girls have had wonderful teachers and I will keep sending them. There are so many options to choose for education, and Sanborn is a wonderful school and the best! Close Quote

Open Quote My student is not happy here. He hates going to this school and occasionally comes home crying from how he is treated by students and staff. He believes it is racially motivated and he didn't even know about that kind of stuff until we moved to Arizona. When the situations are mentioned to the staff it is downplayed with very little action Close Quote

Open Quote I had four children attend Sunburn, the first two did great, teachers that were understanding etc, while they were in early years, new principal and it started to go downhill. Teachers leaving and some staying didn't seem to be as focused. We had some really great teachers though. My two youngest changed schools and the difference in how they felt about school was entirely awesome. I'm hoping that they get back up because at one time they were a very highly rated school academically. Academics and how well the students learn and perform far outweighs how pretty the school can be. Close Quote

Open Quote Have school has there good and bad. When have teachers who listen and a school that will take kids who are above average and give them teachers who understand and can guide them while letting them be kids. Its great.
Sanborn has the good with the bad. I have had wonderful teachers who have guided my kids though the year expanding their horizons. However I have had some not so wonderful teachers who caused my child to crash and burn. That child still had great grades but he hated school, hated talking to his teacher and hated everything about school. One year. One Teacher can take a kid from loving school to hating everything about it because they lack the ability to communicate with the child and the parent.

Teacher have a hard job and I can't imagine being a teacher. However some of the teachers need to communicate better and understand just because a kid is getting good grades doesn't mean something isn't wrong.

We are still attending Sanborn this year but I have started to look at other schools in case this isn't a one time thing with my other children. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
