Da Vinci Tree Academy

Summary:

Da Vinci Tree Academy is a public charter elementary school serving 238 students in grades K-8 in Tucson, Arizona, which is part of the Science Technology Engineering and Math Arizona district.

The school has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Hispanic students (52.94%) compared to the state average. While Da Vinci Tree Academy's academic performance in English Language Arts and Science is generally on par with or slightly above the district and state averages, its Mathematics proficiency rates lag behind, ranging from 15% to 35% across grade levels in 2022-2023. Compared to nearby schools, the academy's performance is stronger than Ford Elementary and Dietz K-8 School, but lower than Sonoran Science Academy East and Gale Elementary School.

One positive trend is the significant decrease in Da Vinci Tree Academy's dropout rate, from 9.3% in 2019-2020 to 2.5% in 2021-2022, which is notably better than nearby schools like Sonoran Science Academy East (5.4% dropout rate) and Dietz K-8 School (12.2% dropout rate). By addressing the needs of its diverse student population and learning from the successes of higher-performing nearby schools, Da Vinci Tree Academy has the potential to further enhance its educational outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is amazing! We moved our children from an other charter school to Da Vinci and they both (5th and 7th) have already learned more this school year than they had in a year at their old school. They both come home actually talking about what they are learning about. Communication here is pretty good. The teachers have gotten back to me within a day. If there is a safety concern admin always addresses it without compromising sensitive information. The previous school would never address why there were police cars in the parking lot so this makes me feel so much better and more in touch. The work is hard but the students are giving so much free opportunities to do them and with help from the teachers. I really couldn't say enough good things. I'm so happy we moved my kids. They both tell me the same! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
