Rogers High School

Summary:

Rogers High School is a public high school located in Spokane, Washington, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,536 students. The school is part of the Spokane School District, which is ranked 123 out of 247 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Rogers High School has a more diverse student population compared to nearby schools, with higher percentages of minority students, it consistently underperforms academically. In the 2023-2024 school year, only 48.39% of Rogers High School students were proficient or better in SBAC/English Language Arts, compared to 60.27% in the Spokane School District and 66.2% statewide. Similarly, only 17.42% of Rogers High School students were proficient or better in SBAC/Math, compared to 28.47% in the district and 33.4% statewide. The school also has a higher dropout rate, ranging from 6.6% to 9.8% over the past five years, which is higher than the district and state averages.

Despite the school's high percentage of low-income students, with 76.56% to 82.81% receiving free or reduced-price lunch, the spending per student at Rogers High School is relatively high. However, this investment does not seem to be translating into improved academic outcomes, as the school performs significantly worse than other high schools in the Spokane School District, such as Shadle Park High School and North Central High School, which have higher academic achievement, graduation rates, and lower dropout rates.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote ROGERS HIGH SCHOOL HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT PLACE OF EDUCATION FOR MY DAUGHTER THE PAST TWO YEARS. EVEN THOUGH ROGERS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE CHALLENGED WITH SOME OF LIFE'S MOST DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES, THEY CONTINUE TO PROVE TO BE SOME OF THE MOST DRIVEN AND WILLING STUDENTS IN SPOKANE. ROGERS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS STRIVE DAILY TO PROVE THEIR COMMITMENT TO RISE UP AND BE VICTORIOUS AS STRONG, EDUCATED, INSPIRATIONAL AND RESPONSIBLE MEMBERS OF SPOKANE'S COMMUNITY. AND IT IS NOT ONLY THEIR DEDICATION TO WORK HARD AND PERSERVERE, BUT THE CARING, DEDICATED, AND ACCOMPLISHED TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS THAT EDUCATE THEM....AND "BELIEVE" IN THEM, THAT ARE TO THANK!!!!!!!!!!!

"WHEN YOU GO THROUGH THE DIFFICULTIES OF LIFE....YOU CAN SEE THE VISIONS OF SOLUTION MORE CLEARLY! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
