East Valley Central Middle School

Summary:

East Valley Central Middle School is a public middle school in Yakima, Washington, serving 801 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the East Valley School District, which is ranked 105 out of 247 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating.

While East Valley Central Middle School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Washington middle schools over the past 10 years, its Hispanic and White student subgroups perform better than the overall school, ranking in the top half of the state. The school also performs particularly well for its Migrant and Homeless student subgroups, ranking in the top 5-10 middle schools in Washington. However, the school's Special Education subgroup is one of the lowest performing, ranking in the bottom 10% of the state. With around 70% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, the school has a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, but these students perform better than the overall school, ranking in the top half of Washington middle schools for this subgroup.

Compared to nearby middle schools, East Valley Central Middle School generally performs better than schools in the Wapato School District, but lags behind schools in the West Valley and Selah School Districts. The West Valley Virtual Academy 7-8, with its small enrollment and higher-performing student population, provides an interesting contrast to the traditional middle schools in the area.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote as i look at the ratings for the school district, it seems to me instead of exploring the idea of building a new high school we(yes i have a child in the district)need to explore the idea of hiring teachers that can actually teach!. and by the looks of the report card, the district just keeps getting worse. time to clean house , start at the top (superintendant)and work your way down. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
