Issaquah Valley Elementary

Summary:

Issaquah Valley Elementary is a public elementary school in Issaquah, Washington, serving 602 students in grades K-5. It is part of the highly-ranked Issaquah School District, which is ranked 3rd out of 247 districts in the state and has a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Issaquah Valley Elementary performs well above the state average in SBAC/English Language Arts and SBAC/Math proficiency, it lags behind the district average, particularly in 3rd and 4th grade assessments. The school has a more diverse student population compared to nearby high-performing schools like Endeavour Elementary and Creekside Elementary, which have higher percentages of Asian students. Issaquah Valley Elementary also serves a more economically diverse population, with 23.09% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, compared to just 8.89% at Endeavour and 2.68% at Creekside.

Issaquah Valley Elementary's student subgroups show some areas of concern, with lower rankings for Hispanic, special education, and low socioeconomic status students. Additionally, there is a significant gap in performance between female and male students, indicating potential equity issues that may need to be addressed. While the school's per-student spending and student-teacher ratio are on par with its high-performing neighbors, it appears that factors beyond just resources may be contributing to the academic disparities observed.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have following up with the principal for months regarding kids get bulleted at school, however, the school management did very minimul to it as to take it seriously. They do not give you feed back on how they deal with the situation or to remedy it happen. The situation get worse and worse and no response from school Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
