As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Cedar Wood school provides excellent environment for learning and growth, both of my kids are very happy at this school for several years.

The school is a magnet for talented and gifted students as an additional bonus it hosts the highly capable program where kids florish under professional guidance of teachers.

There is also a separate good program for kids that have challenges with learning or behavior.

Bulling is practically non existent, concelors and staff provide lots of teaching starting from first days of kindergarten about meaning of friendship, how to recognize different emotions and how to deal with them.

Personally we had one small incident where bulling was recognized and pointed out to the teacher via email. Immediately after, the teacher and a conselor have reacted appropriately and none of the incidents were seen since then.

PTA is pretty strong and is able to organize many extra different activities for the kids and help school to purchase extra, but very much needed equipment. Close Quote

Open Quote We moved to a particular area of Bothell so, our daughter could attend Cedar Wood Elementary. I do believe if your child is a typically developing child, then Cedar Wood would be perfect for you. I have been made aware that student's test scores who have IEPs are not factored into the school's average test scores. If they were, the school's overall rating would be significantly less prestigious. I have been battling with Cedar Wood as well as the Everett School District for several months now, to get specialized teacher than my daughter is entitled to, according to federal laws. It's as if the school and school district lacks the resources, funds and integrity to meet ALL the student's needs. Cedar Wood has been non-compliant with our daughter's IEP for 4 months now and the school district directors are still trying to get the services in place. Also, new at Cedar Wood this year is the Achievement Program. This program is intended for children with behavioral challenges. Some of these children have not been properly monitored or supervised and have been violent against staff numerous times as well as being known to cause extensive damage to the school. Again, Cedar Wood nor the Everett School District was prepared or equipped for such a program. There was no insight or planning for such potential problems that resulted in a teacher being reassigned elsewhere. It is all a very sad reality and it is the student's that suffer. There are such amazing general education teachers and specialists, who have such a passion for what they do and it shows. I really had such high hopes for Cedar Wood. There are many student's who are quite advanced from extensive parental involvement who excel at this school. I believe because of the rigorous parental involvement with a majority of the "gifted" student's is why Cedar Wood has such a high rating. If they were to get assessed on how they manage ALL student's, they would be receiving a failing grade. I truly hope things change and improve so that Cedar Wood can someday live up to it's mythological reputation. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
