As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We are very happy with this school for our girls. They love going to school every day and have great teachers. It is a nice community school with many of the teachers living in the few neighborhoods within its boundaries. Close Quote

Open Quote Glenkirk has gotten overcrowded but it is still a GREAT school. My children have been fortunate to have wonderfully supportive teachers who are caring and patient despite the extraordinary circumstances. The children are happy and the staff is efficient and absolutely on top of things. If you want to move to Gainesville, join the crowd. It's a beautiful bedroom community and growing quickly - that's why two new schools are opening to relieve the crowding issue. To the other reviewer, if your rating is a reflection in large part due to the overcrowding then why did you move to this school district? All of the families fortunate enough to live in this beautiful town such as yourself contribute to the growing population. Any parent whose children attend Glenkirk should be grateful that the teachers (the most important criteria, hello?) are a wonderful influence on them. The District is very supportive and work tirelessly to accommodate everyone. Go Golden Knights!! Close Quote

Open Quote The school is going down and I am upset that this is the school that my child must go to. The principal is hardly ever around and when she is seems out of touch with what is going on. I volunteer my time in the school and have seen way too many changes since my children started when Glenkirk was in it's second year. Many parents are becoming increasingly impatient with how disciplinary issues adn educational decisions are handled. The principal seems very disconnected and does not communicate well with parents or the staff. The vice principal moved on and it was an abrupt and disappointing change. The last VP was the only one who seemed to care about the good of the students and the staff. GREAT STAFF and the specialists are awesome. Sorry to say, if I had a choice, it would be another school. The school is way too crowded. I would have moved to an area that was not so densely populated. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
