Elizabeth Holladay Elementary

Summary:

Elizabeth Holladay Elementary is a public elementary school in Richmond, Virginia, serving 796 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Henrico County Public Schools district, which is ranked 88 out of 130 school districts in Virginia and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Elizabeth Holladay Elementary has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Hispanic (40.2%) and African American (29.27%) students compared to the state average. However, the school has consistently ranked in the bottom 20% of Virginia elementary schools based on the SchoolDigger statewide ranking, with a 1-star rating in the most recent school year. The school's performance on SOL (Standards of Learning) tests is significantly below the Henrico County and Virginia state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. Additionally, the school has an extremely high percentage of students (90.45%) receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population.

While Elizabeth Holladay Elementary shares some similarities with nearby schools like Skipwith Elementary and Chamberlayne Elementary in terms of high free and reduced lunch rates and economic disadvantage, it consistently underperforms these schools academically. This suggests that factors beyond just socioeconomic status may be contributing to the school's challenges, and the school may require additional funding, resources, and targeted interventions to support student learning and address the unique needs of the school community.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote i think that your teachers are the worst in the district. they don't care about the students, and i wish my children did not have to attend your school! but i don't have a choice, please inform your teachers how supposed to teach. they should not judge one student on another students behavior just because they had bad experiences. also they should not judge one siblings behavior on another because no two children are the same.
please teach your teachers to TEACH!!! also to keep their hands to their selves an not on the students! and why your at it check out your TEACHERS instead of the students because some of them have anger management issues that need to be addressed before a lawsuit is filed. THANK YOU

Open Quote My only complaints about Holladay are, the lack of a larger auditorium and the sometimes disorganized events. There are lots of fun family events every month and the teachers there really seem to love their students. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
