When compared to lower-performing schools in the Richmond City Public Schools district, such as Lucille M. Brown Middle and River City Middle, Swift Creek Middle's academic performance is significantly higher, highlighting the disparities in educational outcomes between different school districts.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The school is great education wise, I have been going there since the 6th grade, this year will sadly be my last. The teachers are mostly nice towards kids and seem to like their jobs, the only downsides to the school are the scheduling, the lunch, and the bugs, although the bugs aren't as bad as they were in 6th grade, they are still there. The schedules this year are all over the place, I am forced to move from one end of the school, to the other, in less than 5 minutes, by the time I get to class, I'm exhausted! The last problem is the lunch, I tend not to trust the meat here, because I am worried that it isn't cooked right, but like the bugs, it has gotten better over the years. Overall, the school is amazing, and the education is top notch, I have gotten all A's and B's throughout the years. I think that this school i good for kids that want to challenge themselves Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
