As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Poor curriculum, despite the fact that Utah's public schools are supposed to be transitioning to Core-which if that's true, they should take a few pointers from the private and charter schools as to what kind of materials and lesson plans to use, - and it seems that though what is taught is supposed to be changing, how it's taught is the same: the tenured staff acts like it's an imposition to ask about what is happening in the class room. It is TERRIBLE- As I type this it's mid November, and not one book had been assigned to read (Language Arts) until a week ago; that is NOT Core standard. Moreover, the list from which the kids can choose has 70 titles, and less than 10 "classics" on it. The rest are pulp teen fiction or drivel. We had our kids in both private and charter schools, and so didn't expect DHMS to be absolutely equal. But the quality of what they are learning (and I'm being generous with that term) is so sub-par as to be offensive. One of my kids is in 8th grade, and they are COLORING a graph for math class. There are some dedicated and great teachers- Winfree is one, who teaches history, Bruin is another for Science, Sparks does shop and keyboarding...but the math and English has been frustrating...for kids who want to go to college, DHMS isn't prep at all, I can only shudder to think that DHHS is more of the same. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
