Sealy J H

Summary:

Sealy J H is a public middle school in Sealy, Texas, serving 664 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the Bellville Independent School District, which is ranked 513 out of 968 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Sealy J H struggles, with proficiency rates on STAAR tests generally below the state average across most subjects and grade levels. The school's performance is particularly low in mathematics, though it excels in Algebra I, with 96.67% of students achieving proficiency, significantly higher than the state average of 44.73%. Sealy J H's Gifted and Talented students perform exceptionally well, ranking in the top 25% of Texas middle schools, but its English Language Learners and Special Education students lag behind. Compared to nearby schools in the Katy Independent School District and Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, Sealy J H's academic performance is generally lower.

Despite these challenges, Sealy J H's strong performance in Algebra I and with its Gifted and Talented students suggest that the school may have pockets of excellence that could be leveraged to improve the broader academic outcomes for the student population. The school's relatively low dropout rates, in line with the state average, are also a positive indicator.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My child got verbally abused by other students and the school basically refused to do anything about it. We had to move to secure my child's mental health. The school maybe organized good but there is nothing I care about more than my child's safety. If you are moving to Sealy and worried about how your child is going to fit in I strongly advise not to let your child go to this school. The students are vicious and the counselors won't do anything about it. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
