Double File Trail Elementary

Summary:

Double File Trail Elementary is a public elementary school in Round Rock, Texas, serving 592 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Round Rock Independent School District, which is ranked 216 out of 968 districts in Texas and has a 4-star rating.

Double File Trail Elementary has a more diverse student population compared to surrounding schools, with higher percentages of White, Hispanic, and Asian students. However, the school's academic performance on STAAR tests has been inconsistent, with some grades and subject areas performing better than others. The school's 5th-grade STAAR reading and math proficiency rates are higher than the district and state averages, but 3rd and 4th-grade proficiency rates are generally lower. The school's performance for different student subgroups also varies significantly, with White, multi-racial, and English Language Learner students performing better than African American, Hispanic, and economically disadvantaged students.

Despite the higher per-student spending and relatively low student-teacher ratio at Double File Trail Elementary, the academic performance data suggests that these resources may not be fully translating into consistent, high-quality outcomes for all students. The school's diverse student population and fluctuating academic performance indicate the need for targeted interventions and support to address achievement gaps and ensure more equitable and consistent outcomes for all students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I love this school. The teachers and administrators here are wonderful! So far they've done a great job at matching my kids' personalities with the teacher's to really give them a great chance for success. So far we've not ran into a deficient or non-super cool teacher yet (3 years)! Nothing is perfect, and everyone can improve - so administrators keep improving! One thing they don't have is access to technology for the kids, but the district is going that route with the new Superintendent. They've provided Microsoft 365 for all students in the district for free to encourage the use at home! They cleaned house throughout the district when the new Superintendent took over and Hernandez Middle School's Principal was replaced (next in line if you go to Double File). Been keeping tabs on them as some people were selling their house and moving to avoid the Middle School. It sounds like they are turning them around so our house will remain with us, and we'll go to Hernandez. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
