Chisholm Trail Middle

Summary:

Chisholm Trail Middle is a public middle school in Round Rock Independent School District, serving 688 students in grades 6-8. The school has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Hispanic (39.24%) and Asian (4.36%) students compared to nearby schools.

Academically, Chisholm Trail Middle performs well in certain areas, particularly in 8th grade STAAR tests, where it exceeds the state average in Reading, Mathematics, and Science. However, the school lags behind the district average in most subject areas. It ranks highly for its Gifted and Talented program and special education services, but struggles to close the achievement gap for its African American and Hispanic student populations. Despite these strengths, Chisholm Trail Middle's statewide ranking has declined in recent years, and it generally performs below nearby schools like Ridgeview Middle, Pearson Ranch Middle, and Cedar Valley Middle.

Chisholm Trail Middle has a higher percentage of free/reduced lunch recipients (35.47%) compared to nearby schools, indicating a more socioeconomically diverse student population. The school also has a relatively high spending per student at $10,040 in 2020-2021, which is higher than the nearby schools in the Round Rock ISD. While the school has maintained a 0% dropout rate, the uneven performance across student groups and the declining statewide ranking suggest that there may be opportunities for improvement in the school's academic programs and support services.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This the worst school ever. The teachers do not respond to messages. Bullying is highly prevalent. Teachers don't do anything about bullying. Assistant principals and principal don't deal with bullying either. School counsellors are useless. Finally when the kids who get bullied react to the bullying in the wrong way, they get punished and sent to ROCK and the bullies are freely roaming the hallways continuing what they are doing. If you want your child to be safe do not send him or her to this school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
