Lacy Elementary

Summary:

Lacy Elementary is a public elementary school in Princeton, Texas, serving around 670 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the Princeton Independent School District, which is ranked 438 out of 968 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating.

Lacy Elementary stands out for its relatively diverse student population, with 35.22% White, 22.39% African American, 33.28% Hispanic, and 5.07% Asian students. The school performs particularly well for its African American and Special Education student subgroups, ranking in the top 4 and top 1 quartiles among Texas elementary schools, respectively. However, its performance for English Language Learners and Gifted and Talented students is relatively lower, ranking in the bottom quartile. Lacy's STAAR test scores are generally on par with or slightly below the district and state averages, with 5th-grade students outperforming in reading and mathematics but underperforming in science.

Compared to other elementary schools in the Princeton ISD and nearby districts like Lovejoy ISD, McKinney ISD, and Melissa ISD, Lacy Elementary generally performs on par or slightly below average. However, its strong performance for African American and Special Education students is a positive indicator. To improve, the school could focus on enhancing its support for English Language Learners and Gifted and Talented students, as well as boosting its 5th-grade science scores.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is absolutely the hardest working school I have ever been associated with, either as a parent, teacher, or student. This school truly prepares it's students for success and the scores prove it and the faces of the students beaming with pride emphasis it. I simply love being a part of the process that takes struggling, underprivileged students and helps mold them into students who score commended on the state's mandatory and ridiculously long and difficult tests. It makes my day!!!Go LACY!!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
