As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We enrolled our daughter here because we thought it would be a great educational experience however it turns out that the middle school she would have attended did better on the math STARR test than YWA. End of elementary school our daughter scored exceeds grade level on the STARR test. End of her first year at YWA she scored "approaches grade level". I suspect it would have been worse but for the fact wed been supplementing her education with math tutoring at Sylvan for the entire year.
The really disturbing thing about her STARR math score decline is that her math grade at YWA was an A so there was no indication that she was falling behind until the STARR test. This suggests that either they are teaching below grade level or their group work structure is masking difficulties individuals might be having.
The worst thing about this school is the lack of planning and parent notification of events. If I am lucky enough to receive any notice of orchestra concerts, talent shows, award ceremonies, parent teacher conferences, etc they change the time or date of the event at the last moment. It's very poorly organized and chaotic. it is not at all friendly to working parents that want to attend/participate in school events but need to notify their employer in advance. The seem to have no calendar or clue what a calendar/schedule is. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
