Campbell Middle

Summary:

Campbell Middle is a public middle school in Houston, Texas, serving 1,103 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD), which is ranked 363 out of 968 districts in Texas and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Campbell Middle has a diverse student population with a higher percentage of African American (36.17%) and Hispanic (43.52%) students compared to district and state averages, its academic performance, as measured by STAAR test scores, is generally lower than the district and state averages across most subjects and grade levels. However, the school's Gifted and Talented program is relatively strong, with its students ranking in the top 25% of Texas middle schools in this category for the past three school years. On the other hand, Campbell Middle's performance for special education and English language learner students is lower than the district and state averages.

When compared to other middle schools in the same district, Campbell Middle generally performs below the district averages, with the exception of its Gifted and Talented program. However, it outperforms some nearby schools, such as Shotwell Middle and Truitt Middle (in the Aldine ISD), which have lower academic performance and higher poverty rates. Addressing the needs of its diverse student population, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, could be a key focus area for Campbell Middle to improve overall student outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I think this school should be a school for kids with behavior problems except the administration would all need to be replaced because the administration does not follow the district code of conduct and have no control over these ignorant violent kids. I have a daughter who is high functioning Autism Spectrum who has always done excellent with her behavior, also she is on honor roll. Recently she has been beaten or jumped by 3 different girls, her Ipone 5 was stolen by a boy in her class, as he bragged about it, her new phone was taken by another student and very vulgar text were sent to one of her close friends. She is teased often. After I told the counselor, vice principal and principal they told me they would investigate but my daughter said these same girls who had beaten her up never had a suspension out of school. I spent the day at the school this month and at lunch a fight broke out in front of me. The school office staff have no knowledge of the fact that the students are out of control and bully other students or maybe they just do not care but my daughter should not have to go to a school where she is scared and has no protection. I complain to the Special Education Coordinator who said the staff thought my daughter was doing great with nomproblems, even though I have been there with my complaints 3 times to all of them and she promised to email me transfer information but never did it. We are now seeking a Catholic School or charter school for hef to attend. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
