Creekview High School

Summary:

Creekview High School is a public high school serving grades 9-12 in Carrollton, Texas, with a student population of 1,610. The school is part of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, which is ranked 407 out of 968 districts in Texas and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Creekview High School has several strengths, including consistently high four-year graduation rates (95.2% to 97.9%) and very low dropout rates (0.3% to 0.9%), which are significantly better than state and district averages. The school also generally performs better than the district and state on STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams, particularly in Biology, English I Reading, English II Reading, and U.S. History. However, the school struggles with lower proficiency rates in Algebra I compared to the district and state. Creekview's performance on STAAR EOC exams varies across different student subgroups, with the school performing well for African American, White, and Gifted and Talented students, but struggling with lower proficiency rates for Asian, Hispanic, and Male students.

Compared to nearby schools, Creekview High School outperforms schools like Turner High School and Grimes Education Center on key metrics, but lags behind high-performing schools like Hebron High School and New Technical H.S. at Coppell. Additionally, Creekview's statewide ranking has declined over the years, from 376 out of 1,797 Texas high schools in 2017-2018 to 875 out of 1,987 in 2023-2024, suggesting the need for the school to identify and address the root causes of this decline.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Very low socioeconomic school which means their is bullying towards kids who have money, their sports teams and extra curricular activities are mediocre at best. The main focus at this school is to get the kids the best education they can to get them to graduate. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has always had good and bad reviews, to be honest without exaggerating anything, this school has been a disappointment,. By that i mean, 20% of the teachers dont care, toooo much gang activity for such a safe city, and too many fights... (if you dont believe me look at the 6 security guards in the school, one of them is a cop.) some areas of the school are very good, and kids excel but overall this isnt a very good school. The fight problem has been getting worse along with the graffiti in the area. Theres a fight in school almost once every two weeks and out of school there are fights 1-2 times a week! The fine arts area along with music and the AP program is one of the best in north texas. the staff is too relaxed, none of the entrances are closely watched ( although there are cameras everywhere)our athletics a joke, we are no longer known as the steroid using football team. And this is for the parents...( your kid wont have a problem NOT finding drugs here!) Our nick name Is CRACKVIEW.... 3.5 out of 5 stars is my rating. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
