Inspired Vision Academy Secondary

Summary:

Inspired Vision Academy Secondary is a public charter high school in Dallas, Texas, serving 584 students in grades 7-12. With a predominantly Hispanic student body (96.4%), the school has consistently been ranked in the bottom quartile of Texas high schools, earning a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Inspired Vision Academy Secondary faces significant challenges in improving its educational outcomes. Its four-year graduation rate has declined from 97.4% in 2019-2020 to 92.9% in 2022-2023, still higher than the state average but lower than nearby schools like Mesquite High School and North Mesquite High School. The school's STAAR test scores are significantly below state averages across all subjects and grade levels, with only 21.1% of 7th graders proficient or better in STAAR Reading, compared to the state average of 52.08%. Inspired Vision Academy Secondary's subgroup performance, such as for African American, Hispanic, and English Language Learner students, is also significantly below state averages.

Inspired Vision Academy Secondary's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students (over 93% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch) likely contributes to its lower academic performance. The school's declining performance, with its statewide ranking dropping from 783 out of 1,734 Texas high schools in 2013-2014 to 1,510 out of 1,987 in 2023-2024, suggests the need for significant improvements in the school's educational programs and support systems to address the unique needs of its student population and drive academic success.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is incredible. I almost don't want to share this info, because this is one of the best kept secrets in Pleasant Grove. If you don't like DISD, this is the place for you. Smaller classroom sizes than most, and a maximum school occupancy that does not exceed 400. What more could you ask for in Dallas?
Quality teachers, and state funding means the more the staff cares, the better funding the staff receives from the state. What a great insinitive that, a middle class citizen like myself who has to go to work everyday and pay for my own healthcare, can get free breakfast and lunch for my kids. Two things to say here. If you can't beat em, join em, and IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! Teachers are super-nice!!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
