Open Quote I went there my 8th grade year which was 2009-2010. That school year goes down as the worst year of my life literally, and MTCS is the reason why. I was bullied relentlessly, all the time. Even in front of teachers, and they did nothing to stop it. Daily, I was made fun of. I had one of the students steal an iPod from me, and I reported it to the administration, they called the mother of the student, and the mother of the student said, "yeah, we have it. But I'm not giving it back to him!" The administration didn't care at all. This was on the last day of school there. Next year I was going to Central Magnet, so I thought to myself they can keep it, I just wanna get outta this school ASAP. They had a pack mentality there so that made bullying a lot worse. The teachers couldn't even say my name in class without everyone mocking me. The teachers just sat back and watched and did absolutely nothing. Do not send your children here, it'll scar them forever. Plus the academics are subpar. Close Quote

Open Quote As a former student, I can tell you about what REALLY is going on at MTCS. None of the students like it there. Dress code seems like a great idea, but in reality it makes the students irritable and angry. I've had several teachers that clearly do not know what they are talking about (math teachers asking the students, "Wait, what did I do wrong here...?" English teachers not assigning any essays and never even teaching MLA format). I am in college now, and I am expected to have taken Anatomy and Psychology. They have Anatomy but wouldn't let me take it, and they don't even offer Psychology. AP classes are scarce, and the ones that they do have don't prepare adequately for the AP exam. The only good program there is the History department, and only because of Mr. Faulkner. English is definitely the worst, with teachers that aren't qualified and teach philosophy more than english. Bible classes are fairly good. Math is either super easy or super hard. Sciences are very poor, not many classes are offered and the ones that are are an easy A with no effort. The band program has only recently gone in the gutter because the band and chorus teachers left, leaving behind virtually nothing. The principal is a joke. If you ask any student in the high school if they respect him, you'll get a laugh and a clear no. Administration in general never seems to have your best interest in mind as they intensely scan the crowd for lanyards but overlook bigger issues. If you want your child to get a quality education and avoid the "dangers" of public school, send them to Central Magnet. It will actually prepare your child for college and has the same friendly environment as MTCS. If you are only looking for a Christian environment, send them to Providence. From what I've heard the students like it there. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
