Grandview Elementary School

Summary:

Grandview Elementary School is a public school located in Telford, Tennessee, serving 651 students in grades PK-8. As part of the Washington County School District, which is ranked 26 out of 139 districts in the state, Grandview Elementary has maintained a strong academic performance, ranking 311 out of 1,008 Tennessee elementary schools in the 2023-2024 school year with a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Grandview Elementary's performance has been particularly impressive for its "Special Education Students" and "Low Socio-Economic Status Students" subgroups, ranking 144 out of 577 and 90 out of 847 Tennessee elementary schools, respectively, in the 2023-2024 school year. However, the school's performance for "Female Students" and "White Students" has been relatively lower, ranking 404 out of 981 and 364 out of 840 Tennessee elementary schools. The school's per-student spending has increased from $8,625 in 2018-2019 to $9,628 in 2020-2021, comparable to nearby schools in the district.

When compared to other schools in the area, Grandview Elementary generally performs at a similar or slightly higher level, but some nearby schools, such as Woodland Elementary (in the Johnson City School District) and West View School, have significantly outperformed Grandview Elementary in certain areas, particularly in Mathematics and English Language Arts. This suggests that Grandview Elementary may benefit from examining the strategies used by its highest-achieving counterparts to further enhance the academic outcomes for all its students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I am a parent. This school has too many clicks. The teachers discuss the children among themselves and to other students which shows poor professionalism. The Principal allows teaching assistants to have far more control and input into the way the school is ran. There are teachers that have no business in the teaching profession due to their bad attitudes, chips on their shoulders, and control freak dispositions. At this school, I have seen and heard with my own ears teachers screaming and yelling at students and the whole school could hear. It's time to shake this school up and move people around. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
