As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote So far, I am very disappointed in Barfield Elementary school. I had heard good things about this school in the past so I was surprised after I started getting concerned 2 weeks into the school year that my child's teacher did not seem to be focused on teaching in the classroom. Also, when report cards came home it was very inaccurate and I was told that my child was likely tested BEFORE the information was taught in the classroom. This seems very disrespectful to parents and the children who work so hard to learn what they are taught. To me, it is cheating the child out of the true grade he/she deserves. I have met ans spoken several times with the teacher and other staff within the school system and have only gotten the "oh your child is ok .. you really are concerned over nothing." I have asked repeatedly for information on what my child is taught so I can help at home. Sometimes we get a small amount of information and sometimes we don't so I am left trying to do what I can off the work she brings home. However, I am told that what she brings home is not the only work taught at school which she is graded on as well. I am debating pulling my child out. Anyone else with issues? Close Quote

Open Quote My son is in the kindergarten readiness class, he has learned alot. However, they are suppose to have a zero tolerance for bullies. My son has been abused by 3 different class mates. The first time, he was kicked in the eye and had eyelashes missing. The second time, I was an eye witness, my son was shoved by a boy twice his size into a brick wall and his head slammed into the wall. The third time , my son was chocked on the playground, leaving bruises around the bottom of his neck and collarbone. The education is good but what is being done to keep our children safe from bullies. It is a real problem and I am very concerned. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
