RB Stall High

Summary:

RB Stall High is a public high school located in North Charleston, South Carolina, serving 1,952 students in grades 9-12. The school is part of the Charleston 01 school district, which is ranked 24th out of 75 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating.

Despite being part of a relatively high-performing district, RB Stall High has consistently ranked in the bottom half of South Carolina high schools, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's performance on End-of-Course (EOCEP) exams is significantly lower than the district and state averages across various subjects, including Algebra 1, English 1, U.S. History, and English 2. Additionally, the school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with the school ranking much lower for Hispanic and White students compared to African American students.

Interestingly, other schools within the Charleston 01 district, such as Charleston School of the Arts and Academic Magnet High, are among the top-performing schools in the state. Meanwhile, Allegro Charter School of Music, also within the same district, outperforms RB Stall High on most academic metrics. The high concentration of students from low-income families at RB Stall High, as indicated by the 100% free and reduced lunch rate, may be a significant factor contributing to the school's academic challenges.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I am a new person attending R B Stall High. Before i started going to this school i was scared. I just moved from an area and all my friends were going to a different high school. I was upset at first, but then i realized something. If you don't try something how do you know how it is going to turn out. So i gave R B Stall a chance and it didn't let me down, not at all! About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
