The school is ranked 1232 out of 1526 Pennsylvania elementary schools and is rated 1 out of 5 stars by SchoolDigger, consistently performing in the bottom quarter of Pennsylvania elementary schools.

Ad Prima Charter School significantly underperforms the state and district averages on standardized tests, with only 20.4% of students proficient or better in PSSA Math and 36.8% proficient or better in PSSA English Language Arts, compared to state averages of 40.4% and 53%, respectively. This academic underperformance is consistent across all grade levels. The school serves a student population that is predominantly from low socioeconomic backgrounds, with 99.66% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, significantly higher than the state and district averages. Additionally, Ad Prima Charter School has had relatively high dropout rates in recent years, ranging from 0% to 1.6%, which is higher than the state and district averages.

When comparing Ad Prima Charter School to nearby schools, including Lewis C Cassidy Academics Plus School, Samuel Gompers School, and Harambee Institute of Science and Technology Charter School, it becomes clear that the academic performance challenges are not unique to Ad Prima. Many of the surrounding schools, including public district schools and other charter schools, also struggle with low proficiency rates on standardized tests, particularly in Math and Science. This suggests that the socioeconomic factors faced by the community may be a significant contributor to the persistent underperformance of these schools, and addressing these broader challenges may be necessary to improve educational outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is an excellent school, which challenges the children in ways no other school here in Philadelphia does. Granted that the grading system is very very tough, but if I ever have to move my children to a school with a different grading system, they will become straight A students. Other than that the teachers and administrative staff are very helpful. Programs are offered, that if children struggle, can be used to bring them to where they need to be.

I love the school and so do my children. I have no intention to move my children anytime soon and can only recommend it. The Frankford Location of Ad-Prima now also has Bus Service for students, which makes the school easier to access. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
