Maple Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Springfield, Oregon, serving 255 students in grades K-5. The school is part of the Springfield School District 19, which is ranked 93 out of 140 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Maple Elementary School has seen a decline in its statewide ranking over the past several years, dropping from a high of 340 out of 701 Oregon elementary schools in 2016-2017 to 619 out of 710 in the current 2023-2024 school year, with a 1-star rating. The school consistently underperforms compared to the district and state in standardized test scores, with only 20.4% of 3rd graders proficient or better in English Language Arts and Mathematics, compared to 30.5% and 30.3% for the district, and 39% and 39.9% for the state, respectively. Maple Elementary School has a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, at 72.16% in the 2022-2023 school year, which is significantly higher than the nearby Eugene School District 4J schools, which range from 61.17% to 95.7%. Despite this, the school spends $24,509 per student, which is higher than the spending levels of the nearby schools in the district, which range from $19,226 to $21,620 per student. This suggests that simply spending more money may not be the sole solution to improving student outcomes at Maple Elementary School.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

The teaching staff, includes both certified teachers and classified employees, work well together to ensure that all students receive an interesting, relevant, and challenging education. Students are supported and encouraged to be their best and to work hard to be successful in school. Volunteers are an important part of the school community. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
