Henley Elementary School

Summary:

Henley Elementary School is a public elementary school in Klamath Falls, Oregon, serving 520 students in grades K-6. The school is part of the Klamath County School District, which is ranked 88 out of 140 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Henley Elementary has shown mixed academic performance on state assessments. In recent years, the school's 3rd-6th grade students have performed better than the district in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, but still lag behind the state averages. However, the school's 5th grade Science scores have consistently been below the district and state. Henley's Hispanic and Special Education students have performed relatively well, ranking in the top 3-4 deciles in the state, but the school's White and Female students have generally performed below the school's overall performance and state averages. Overall, Henley Elementary has been ranked in the middle to lower half of Oregon elementary schools, maintaining a 2-3 star rating from SchoolDigger.

Compared to nearby schools, Henley Elementary's performance is generally on par with or slightly better than other Klamath County elementary schools, but lags behind the higher-performing schools in the Klamath Falls City Schools district, such as Roosevelt Elementary and Ferguson Elementary. This may be due in part to Henley's higher percentage of students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as its slightly lower per-student spending and higher student-teacher ratio compared to the Klamath Falls City Schools.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Very poorly run school. Too many students per teacher (32+). They've virtually eliminated all the teacher aides, they've cut the school counselor, the library is a joke. The new principal is only concerned about avoiding the issues rather than solving problems. The Special Ed department is very over-worked, very short staffed. I feel the root of the problem lies with the county school district itself. The administrators have definitely put their bottom line ahead of whats best for this school and the kids that unfortunately have to attend it. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
