Graham School The

Summary:

Graham School The is a public charter high school located in Columbus, Ohio, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 147 students. The school has a diverse student population, with 38.78% White, 42.86% African American, 12.93% Hispanic, and smaller percentages of Asian, Native American, and multiracial students. Despite its diverse enrollment, Graham School The has consistently been ranked in the bottom 20% of Ohio high schools by SchoolDigger, with a 1-star rating out of 5 for the past several years.

While Graham School The has seen a steady increase in its 4-year graduation rate, from 76.9% in 2019-2020 to 85.4% in 2023-2024, this rate is still lower than the state average and some of the nearby schools, such as Centennial High School. Additionally, the school has a very high chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 27.5% in 2019-2020 to 60.0% in 2020-2021, which is significantly higher than the state average and the nearby schools. Graham School The's proficiency rates on the Ohio State Tests are also consistently lower than the state and district averages across all subject areas, indicating that the school is struggling to prepare its students for academic success.

Despite spending $21,235 per student, which is higher than the spending at nearby traditional public schools like Whetstone High School ($10,438 per student) and Northland High School ($10,880 per student), Graham School The is still struggling to achieve better academic outcomes. This suggests that the issue may not be solely related to funding, and the school may need to implement comprehensive strategies to address the high chronic absenteeism and low academic performance across all student subgroups.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote What I would like to change at The Graham school is all the staff members and how they treat some of the good by making them feel bad when they did not do anything to but they make them feel like their the bad guys when they're not. I want them to talk more about college instead of trying to make then work right after they graduate because that's unfair everyone does a change and I want them to stop taking the good kids for granted because it's sick and makes me look down at this school. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
