Open Quote Fontbonne Hall Academy is a small school in Bay Ridge. Although, their is a misconception of the students attending, and how they are so to say “snobby” and “spoiled”, I would never agree to that as a current student. Majority of the girls are hard working and balance having an outside job and their school work. Fontbonne allows one to be a well rounded student, which is essential as college applications come around. Their are so many new clubs and activities that the new principal made effective. One particular, that is pretty impressive is the Brown University’s engineering programs. The science department in the school has really changed for the better. Students who have an interest in science have finally a place in the school. Their is a whole room dedicated to the STEM program, not to mention their is a 3D printer that allows students to get hands on. Close Quote

Open Quote Fontbonne Hall Academy has allowed me to grow both academically and mentally. It has allowed me to make amazing friendships that will last forever, and I enjoy my days there immensely. Academic wise, teachers are always availible during resources to help me with topics with which I may not understand. Class sizes are small which helps me to have some one on one time with teachers during class. Homerooms, or FA's, are comprised of all years, so as to nurture school bonding, as well as to allow the freshmen to gain knowledge of whats to come the next year. To address the all girls issue: before I went to FHA I cringed at the idea of no boys! But, being able to go to school and not have to worry about what you look like, it is truly relieving. Also, there is no dummying down just so you don't look nerdy. In fact at FHA, you feel the effect of healthy competition. I also participate in an assortment of clubs and sports, all of which are very enjoyable, and allowed me to make more friends, as well as learn to assume leadership skills required in everyday life. I love FHA=) Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
