As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My child is a second grader, rising third grader, at Mamaroneck Avenue School. I'm absolutely obsessed with this school - it is WONDERFUL. My child has been doing computer coding since Kindergarten, writing the most beautiful stories since Kindergarten, they have writing celebrations on different genres of stories they write at least 5 times a year, they do complex math already, have learned piano, taken coding and engineering after school, and learned environmental appreciation values and learned composting, gardening, planted and harvested vegetables, and take home many books a day for nightly reading. They write poetry and keep poetry journals. They write graphic novels. They took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with their wonderful art teacher and it was so engaging and interesting that even all the parents learned a lot! Every student has the opportunity to start a string instrument in third grade and most do! Really inspiring to see all these little kids walking around the school yard proudly with their string instruments. We have one of the best elementary string orchestras in all of New York state!!! This year our school orchestra school earned the highest rating possible at the New York State School Music Association Majors Festival. We put on incredible theater performances that kids can participate in starting in 3rd grade. Our second graders did a performance project with the high school where they went on several occasions to the high school and collaborated with the high schoolers on a musical and theater showcase that was INCREDIBLE! The student body is diverse which makes the school even better as diversity promotes empathy, learning, and wider understanding of the world. This school creates caring, inquisitive, and respectful and engaged citizens. The principal and vice principal are great, we love them! I could not be happier with each teacher my son has had. The teachers are WONDERFUL! I love this school, it should be #1 in new york state. We have a famous alumni also such as Jonathan Simkhai and Matt Dillon to name a few. The school promotes a growth mindset with which the students thrive. This school is a gift and we are so grateful to have it. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
