Ps 250 George H Lindsay

Summary:

Ps 250 George H Lindsay is an elementary school in Brooklyn, New York, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 284 students. The school consistently underperforms compared to the district and state in academic proficiency, with particularly low scores in English Language Arts and Math. Additionally, the school struggles to support the academic achievement of various student subgroups, with rankings in the bottom half or quarter of New York elementary schools.

Despite spending more per student than the national average, the school's academic outcomes have not improved. Nearby schools in the same district, such as Brooklyn Arbor Elementary School, Ps 380 John Wayne Elementary, and Ps 132 Conselyea School (The), generally outperform Ps 250 George H Lindsay in academic proficiency and overall school rankings.

The high concentration of students from low-income families and the underperformance of various student subgroups suggest that Ps 250 George H Lindsay may need to implement more targeted and effective strategies to support the diverse learning needs of its student population. By examining the practices of higher-performing schools in the New York City Geographic District #14 and optimizing resource allocation, the school may be able to identify opportunities to improve educational outcomes for its students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Teachers do not care, they do not go above and beyond for their students.
They are rude and it may all start from the principal in this school. She has to be one of the most laziest principals ever. School does not have any extra activities for students, no Saturday help classes, no sports teams, no family nights, nothing. Many parents took there children out of the school check there enrollment status. Board of Ed provide a miracle starting with the principal first. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
