Its four-year graduation rate of 75.4% is lower than the nearby schools, which range from 62.1% to 95.8%, and it has a higher dropout rate, ranging from 7.0% to 15.9% over the past few years, compared to the surrounding schools, which have dropout rates between 1.0% and 20.0%. Additionally, Schuylerville Preparatory High School has a very high chronic absenteeism rate, reaching 62.5% in the 2022-2023 school year, significantly higher than the nearby schools, which range from 37.4% to 84.8%.

The school's relatively high per-student spending, ranging from $14,549 to $18,479 over the past few years, suggests that the issue may not be a lack of funding, but rather how those resources are being utilized and allocated to support student success. Addressing the root causes of chronic absenteeism, such as student engagement, family support, and school climate, should be a top priority for the school and New York City Geographic District #8, which is ranked 742 out of 866 districts in New York and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My experience with this school is very disappointing, it's harder and harder to believe in the school system each passing year. The faculty here is unprofessional, the security guards are rude & treat you like you're entering a prison vs a high school and you don't feel safe here even with the metal detectors. My child was struggling socially and academically I didn't learn of this till the first parent teacher conference 3 months into the school year. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
