As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have two daughters who are currently enrolled at Ober and have been enrolled since kindergarten. Comparing notes with other fathers who's children attend different schools, both public and private in Las Vegas, as well as based on my own observation Ober represents one of the finest elementary schools available in southern Nevada.

The staff from the principal down to the teaching assistants are professional, strict with the kids but fun and communicate well with the parents. A significant difference from other schools, based on my observation, is the emphasis on values and manners the school holds nearly as high as the focus on education. Good manners, treating others with respect, fairness and compassion are fundamentals that are taught along with reading, math, science and art. The attitude of the students and test scores are evident on the focus of learning and the school values.

Test scores are one measure of a great school, but what makes a great school a cut above or an excellent school are the results. My children are not only being taught to read, write and think they are being taught how to be honest, respectful, hard working and most importantly good people.

It truly is more of a testament to the principal and her staff that the mix of education and core values are imparted as well as they are. Our girls are better people for having attended Ober elementary. That is a high standard to continuously meet and which Ober has met each year we have attended.

Parents are highly engaged at Ober which again shows investment from the staff beyond the classroom. The PTO is very active in making sure Ober's students are well funded and highly engaged in the class room and beyond. A testament once again to a strong staff and another feather the cap of the principal and her vision of what a excellent education experience should be.

Many other schools are a result of mediocre staff rising to the top. My experience at Ober has has been that excellence is expected and delivered in all departments. The teachers at Ober, in my opinion, are above par in nearly every department. That excellence trickels down every day to its students. My kids look forward to going to school not solely to socialize but because they are engaged in learning. Ober elementary has had a large influence on our daughters and has begun the process of a lifetime of learning in the right way.

In summary Ober is an excellent school, above par when compared to other schools in the area and state, and comes with this parents highest recommendation. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
