As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Children at the school are not treated as people and have no voice. When treated inappropriately by staff are brushed under the table. Sadly it looks as if this is normal. Even reading a review from a student 6 years ago the staff was disrespectful. No wonder our children are failing educators are too overwhelmed and have forgotten why they became teachers. Open Quote Ahh, the things I have to say about Cortney JHS...
First of all, the staff are great! Some of them are biased towards certain "types" of students. Some of the teachers will yell (actually raise their voice louder, but whatever--same thing) at you if you don't get something or ask for another example and people ask why students are sometimes afraid to raise their hands if they have a question... but overall they are devoted to teaching and helping students.

This school has fun after school activities and clubs (I'm still waiting for an art club...), cool spirit days, and I like how there's actually a channel to watch and listen to the announcements before class starts. I also like how the girls and boys P.E. classes and activities are separate from one another. In my previous school, both the boys and girls do the same activities which made me feel uncomfortable. This school offers free tutoring after school also.

Now the students are the main reason why I give my school 4 stars. I know, the students come and go and that shouldn't affect the school, but whatever, I can't explain. From what I observed, most of the kids here are typical teenagers: rebellious, judgmental, talkative, and they LOVE drama. Of course, not all are like that... just the majority. They will laugh if a teacher gets mad or even cry from frustration or so. They're so annoying and immature. Someone says "Moby Dick" and the majority starts laughing. Ahaha, he said, "Dick". Now here's the part where I sigh and roll my eyes.
Every school has kids like this so whatever. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
