Open Quote The school is totally disorganized. Admin is horrible. Front office staff works with a miserable attitude. The school has lost some really great teachers the turnaround is horrible. Also their is not a real focus on making sure there are qualified teachers in certain classes for example math when they were short staffed I was told by another educator who works their they need a breathing body how sad. I don’t recommend this school if you want your child to be learning the actual pace of their grade level. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is terribly in catching up or reacting to other public schools actions. Although charter schools run their own system but still generally follow the CCSD schedule. This school follows on CCSD all holidays or school breaks for sure, and add on top of their own (sadly) but not reopening or commitments as CCSD or other charter school. This school is so far behind on reaction to the public emergency and the recovery of it. The worse part: this year after all public had reopened after lock down due to Covid, this school remains online learning and only offers pathetic 2-hours on Wednesday for face to face school time. There is a reason why elementary school students have to go back to school due to social is a big part of their learning. This school missed this part big time, and I cannot image how can I feel comfortable to keep my child there for the terrible education decision made my the administrative staff. I like the teachers, unfortunately, they don’t make administrative decision. The board and the administrative staff are inefficient, I will not recommend this school to at all. Close Quote

Open Quote A school with big ideas and poor execution, lack of leadership, lack of resources and ability to provide children with overall education. Teachers who are obviously overworked because they have to handle children from three different levels in one class. They put 1,2 and 3rd grade together with a great concept of teaching different levels according to the development of the child. However, teachers struggle to maintain control of the classroom. Lack of resources like computers, playground and even classrooms is something the school board should look into. The school also lacks proper resources in handling students with special needs or behavioral issues. Their ways of handling these issues are to suspend students and ultimately expel them. The school gave us an impression that there was some behavioral issue with our child and when we asked what programs they had to help my child they asked for our suggestions instead. Not trusting this school we took our child to a clinical professional only to be told our child was healthy and perfectly fine. The doctor told us that our child was extremely smart but the school needs to provide extra activities for children so they can burn energy. Later we found out that if a child is misbehaving then they punish them by refusing them recess. Imagine a 5 year old sitting on a chair by themselves while others are playing. Our child no longer attends this school. As a parent I did my duty to listen to my child's need and to give my love and support . Close Quote

Open Quote The majority of my child's teachers have been wonderful. The problem is the principle! She stresses the teachers out and disbelieves children. I can NOT understand people who refuse to protect children from abuse. #me too #timeisup Close Quote

Open Quote It is a small and quaint school with a wonderful principal. However, the owners are the one behind the scenes blocking her from protecting the kids from inappropriate behavior of the male teachers. One of the teachers takes out his bottles of medicine while teaching and takes them in front of the kids along with many questionable comments to the kids. The other male teacher shares all of his mood malfunctions daily with the kids. One day, during one of his a melt downs,he packed up all of his belongings in front of the kids and told them he was quitting which upset the kids, and then he later ended up not quitting. The other minor thing is that there's no cafeteria. Close Quote

Open Quote Silver Sands Montessori Charter is awesome. We will be entering our 5 year next year and we are very happy. The teachers are amazing!!!!! The culture is kind. No bullying and very little drama even in the middle school. We are like a big family. I couldn't say enough good things about this school. Close Quote

Open Quote Silver Sands is a great school. We will be attending our third year in the fall. The teachers are fantastic. There are few things lacking, but the most important things are in place. No playground or lunch program, but the academics are there for sure. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
