As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote There are minimal efforts within this school. This further causes the students to be unmotivated. The students are not encouraged to have good behavior or grades. The monitoring of student behavior is also flat-out bad. There is just absolutely no motivation or improvement within this school. Over half of the student population is low-income, which should signal MORE efforts and improvements towards the school, but only the opposite is observed. So I do not recommend this school at all. I would like to see some changes. And I am also familiar with one of the students in particular who hasn't been receiving the right approach towards his education, therefore making him very unmotivated and indifferent about his education. Personally, I realize how important education is, and though this rating may seem harsh, I hope to spread some awareness about the underlying flaws of this school, and how detrimental they are to these young students in the long run. There is also poor leadership. Real empathy and care between students and teachers have practically died at this school, which makes the atmosphere a relatively bitter place. The fundamental poor leadership at this school, as well as the lack of adaptable teaching methods, makes some students feel at fault. The students should never feel at fault for a careless school such as this one, and overall, I am worried about the future of VHS. I am constantly confused by the carelessness of this school, and with the student exam grades, I am unnerved that changes are not being consistently tried and/or made. I really hope that people will see the importance of supporting schools like these, especially for low-income families, because education is just so important. And sloppy schools such as VSHS make education and learning so hard for these students overall. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
