As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We've had at least one child in SR since 2006 and last of three will graduate in 2020.
We've been very fortunate to have all our children attend SRSD due to the amount of after school activities, classroom environment, teachers, coaches and the overall school atmosphere.
All three of our children have been in Honors Level classes, played sports and one has been in music as well.
The teachers, for the most part, push the children while show a caring side.
The state bonds and restricts our public schools and it is sad. Our non-votech schools should be able to offer curriculum which introduces high school kids to professions in the skilled labor force. Not all kids attend college and being able to offer a sampling of job skills in a classroom would help. Southern is able to offer autoshop, but many good skilled labor jobs can't be offered.
The Honors program is challenging and rewarding as my three children have experienced. My kids will have a combined six years of Latin, two years of German and four of French. The school had to hire a second Latin teacher since a waiting list was in place due to the demand and likability of the only Latin teacher.
Southern has been a great place for our children to attend due to so many reasons. To name a few in no order: it's spirit, open feel campus, community support, the students, sports programs, non-sports programs, the teachers, the staff, classes offered and the education gained. In a few years we'll miss the school, it's people and the atmosphere that's generated. Close Quote

Open Quote this school should be in the worst top 10 schools. the teachers do not care about anything other then their paycheck. only the athletes are recognized, not the smart kids. students become just a student number instead of a human being with a name. thousands of dollars go into sports instead of academics or extracurricular activities. it's very sad when the kids who can catch are idolized when the smart kids who are going places with their lives remain unnoticed. who's going to be working at the mcdonalds in a few years? not that smart kid. so why do they cater to that football player. its like the school in mean girls; the cheerleaders, the drama, the drugs, the teen pregnancies. its all just under the radar. the only thing kids are learning from this school is how to not get caught. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
