Franklin Park School

Summary:

Franklin Park School is an elementary school serving grades PK-5 in the Franklin Township Public School District in New Jersey, with a diverse student population of over 500 students.

Franklin Park School stands out as a high-performing institution, with strong academic achievement, particularly in English Language Arts (ELA). The school has consistently higher proficiency rates in ELA compared to the district and state averages across all grade levels. It also ranks highly in the state for the performance of African American students and English Language Learners, indicating that the school is effectively supporting these historically underserved populations. Additionally, Franklin Park School has a relatively low student-teacher ratio and higher-than-average spending per student, which may contribute to its success.

When compared to nearby schools, Franklin Park School outperforms its peers. For example, Claremont Elementary School, which is in the same district, has lower proficiency rates in both ELA and Math. Similarly, schools in the neighboring North Brunswick Township School District, such as Arthur M. Judd and Livingston Park, have lower overall rankings and academic performance compared to Franklin Park School. However, the school's increasing chronic absenteeism rate is a concern that the school and district should closely monitor and address.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Franklin isn't the best thought of district but this is a great school. It's like a little United Nations - incredibly diverse but with everyone getting a long. Teachers are hard working and committed. i've had two kids go through this school and I couldn't be happier. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
