Highbridge Hill Elementary School

Summary:

Highbridge Hill Elementary School is a public elementary school located in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, serving grades PK-4 with a total enrollment of 406 students. The school is part of the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative School District, which is ranked 102 out of 163 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Highbridge Hill Elementary School stands out for its consistently strong academic performance, particularly in mathematics and reading. In 2023-2024, the school had 59% of students proficient or better in mathematics and 57% in reading, compared to the state averages of 41% and 53%, respectively. This is a notable achievement, especially considering the school's relatively low district ranking. Additionally, Highbridge Hill has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 11.7 to 13.7 over the past three years, which may contribute to its academic success. However, the school's student population is significantly less diverse than the state and nearby schools, such as Peterborough Elementary School and Lionheart Classical Academy Chartered Public School.

Another interesting finding is that Highbridge Hill has a lower percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch (19.46% in 2022-2023) compared to the state and nearby schools, indicating a relatively higher socioeconomic status of the student population. This could be a contributing factor to the school's academic success, as socioeconomic status is often correlated with educational outcomes. Overall, Highbridge Hill Elementary School is a high-performing school that has consistently demonstrated strong academic results, but the lack of racial diversity in its student population is an area that could be further explored and addressed.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Awful...awful...awful. There may be some good teachers, but at least those who do "specials" are ill-equipped to deal with children with special needs. They claim that their "good teaching" circumvents the need for 504's. Will be finding an attorney to fight them every step of the way. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
