As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is a very diverse school with many students from all over the world. Each grade level studies 4 countries and 2/3 of the student population are dual language (every subject taught in Spanish and English from day 1 of kindergarten). The school engages all students and teaches them to serve others through international service projects. Test scores do not fully reflect the amazing work and achievements occuring at Crestridge. OPS's best kept secret! Close Quote

Open Quote To what I have observed over the past 2 years, the OPS curriculum is good and Crestridge staff are doing all that is necessary to make the children cultivate good reading habits.
Math and Science classes have been intuitive and engaging for the children.
Physical Education had also been good to make kids be active.
The music and plays they have are definitely examples of the creative thoughtful minds at Crestridge.
The school does not nudge children to keep pushing their limits, but definitely has its own straits of making kids aspire for competitive and more progressive learning.
The books supplied to keep them nurture good reading practice and improve their vocabulary and usage in day to day situations better.
In all fairness there is much comparison between OPS schools and Millard Public Schools, and I don't see this particular school falling short of the expectations. Close Quote

Open Quote Attending Crestridge has been a wonderful experience for my son. The faculty is professional, positive, motivated and enthusiastic. The principal, Patricia Schweer, is involved in all school activities and is visible and available to the students. Mrs. Schweer and her staff incorporate current research on educational methods into their curriculum and truly strive to reach each student in the best way possible for that child. My son is intellectually advanced and he has had access to special programs for gifted children and his classroom teachers have always recognized that he needs to be challenged to stay engaged. The magnet subject(Global Studies) is not an isolated class, but is incorporated into the entire curriculum from Social Studies to Art and Music. Crestridge also offers a unique (in Omaha!) opportunity to study a foreign language in elementary school and my son is excelling in French. Kudos to Mrs. Schweer and the Crestridge faculty on creating a great learning environment! Close Quote

Open Quote The principal has done her best to stifle the creativity and professional judgement of the teachers. She spends too much time in her office, not enough time being visible to the children. The school is supposed to be a magnet school yet it is does very little to promote their magnet theme of international studies. The once or twice a week sesson with Rosetta Stone fails to foster fluency or literacy in a foreign language, instead it becomes a chance to misbehave on the computers. Standards and the grading system have been lowered in order to close the learning gap among the student population. It is now time to put my child into a different school that will challenge and made him work harder for grades. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
