Open Quote We left after 5 years at the school. 3 Headmasters during our time and they have a temporary headmaster today, so a 4th is on the way. Good teachers but their is very little leadership from the Administration and Board. Way too many resources going into their #1 department - the football team. Close Quote

Open Quote Today our children start their 6th year at Davidson Day. The school has grown and changed much in this time and, while there have been some growing pains, the school remains the best educational option for our children. Achievement and hard work toward success are contagious at the school where more than 70% of the 2012 graduates earned scholarships to college. This year, the senior class is 37 compared to the 22 that graduated in May. While the sports teams are very successful, the school does an excellent job focusing on the academic development of its students.

Boys and Girls soccer, boy's basketball, cross country, girls volleyball, track, baseball, and football each have excellent coaches and are experiencing success. State Championships in girls soccer and football in 2011-2012 demonstrate this success. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is all about athletics and football. Seems all the resources and attention has gone into growing the football program while the academics suffer. My child tells me that dislikes the athmosphere of the school and it is so very different when he started two years ago. Now it is more like a public school, and that is exactly what we didn't want for our child.

The teachers are nice and very approachable, but I am not impressed with their skills. Too many emails and documents come out of the school with glaring spelling and gramatical mistakes. More than once I have found a teachers knowledge lacking, especailly in math and science.

We will be looking for another school for next year. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
