As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote North Duplin Elementry needs a special needs pre-k. My son is special needs, and has to go to Warsaw Elementry. My daughter goes to Noth Duplin Elementry. Both of our children have to be at school at The same time. The School buses come at the same time, and at different locations. My wife has to be at work at 7:00am. We have only 1 vehicle. We cannot afford a second vehicle. We are classified as a low income family. My wife and I cannot be working at the same time, due to the fact we have no one to care for the children after school, nor pick them up if they get sick (which they will do). We also cannot afford after school care for either of them. So in the mornings I have to take my wife to work, then take my daughter to school, waiting in the parking lot for 20 minutes, because there are no techers or staff members helping, and waiting with the children outside. Then I have to go to Warsaw Elementry to drop my son off. After that I will return to Faison , to my home. My sons school has it where the Teachers, Office Staff, Janitors, and the Principal outside helping the children get out of there cars. Also what happens if a single parent who works has no other choice but to drop there children off at school, then rush to there work afterwords because of THE RULES that YOU made up for OUR children. Why not consult the parents before making up rules of droping off and picking up OUR children. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
