Concord High

Summary:

Concord High is a public magnet high school serving 984 students in grades 9-12 in Concord, North Carolina, which is part of the Cabarrus County Schools district. While the school has a relatively diverse student population, its academic performance, as measured by End-of-Course exam proficiency rates, is generally lower than the district and state averages. Concord High has consistently ranked in the bottom half of North Carolina high schools and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Concord High's performance varies across different student subgroups, with the school ranking higher for African American and English Language Learner students compared to other subgroups. However, it ranks lower for Special Education and Low Socioeconomic Status students. The school's high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients suggests significant socioeconomic challenges, which may contribute to its lower academic performance. Interestingly, Concord High has performed exceptionally well in supporting its homeless student population, ranking 5 out of 45 North Carolina high schools in the 2022-2023 school year.

While Concord High's performance is generally lower than the district and state averages, some nearby schools, such as Mount Pleasant High and Northwest Cabarrus High, have stronger academic outcomes. These schools may provide valuable insights into effective practices that could be implemented at Concord High. The school's diverse student population and the higher performance of certain subgroups suggest that there are opportunities for improvement through targeted interventions and the adoption of effective practices from nearby high-performing schools.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Why in the world would any officials of this school or Cabarrus County ever allow the property to be used to distribute Mexican Consulate Matricula cards??!! We all know the only reason for these cards is to either 1) obtain an alias or 2) allow an illegal alien to get ID which they otherwise wouldn't have. These cards are so bogus the Mexican government itself will not accept them as ID.

The Concord High School and Mexican Consulate constitute violations of Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii) of the Federal Immigration and Nationality Act. This Act clearly states it is a violation of Federal law applied to anyone who "conceals, harbors, or shields from detection" or "encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law" or "aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts".

What a DISCRACE! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
