Lincoln County High School

Summary:

Located in the small town of Eureka, Montana, Lincoln County High School serves 306 students in grades 9-12. The school's racial makeup is predominantly White, with 85.29% of students identifying as such in the current school year.

Academically, Lincoln County High School's performance on state assessments is generally below the statewide averages. In the 2022-2023 school year, the school's proficiency rates were 15.28% in Mathematics, 52.78% in Reading, and 15.19% in Science, compared to the statewide averages of 36.59%, 46.03%, and 37.03%, respectively. The school's statewide ranking has fluctuated over the years, ranging from 36th out of 114 high schools in 2021-2022 to 96th out of 119 high schools in 2018-2019, suggesting room for improvement in academic outcomes.

While the school has a relatively low student-to-teacher ratio of 15 students per teacher, it does not provide specific data on the percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, which could indicate potential socioeconomic challenges. Additionally, the school's declining enrollment and decreasing racial diversity may be areas of concern that warrant further investigation to understand the underlying factors and develop strategies to address them.

Open Quote I went here for high school. The teachers are under par, they only encourage sports achievement and not thinking in any capacity, their honors programs are a joke, and the school board has no regard for the students and their well being unless they're star athletes. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
